"The investment paid for itself and more in just 3 days!"
Who: Tyler Kammers. Area Director, Lewis-Clark Valley
Problem: Tyler needed to tell the story of what Young Life is doing in the border towns of Lewiston, ID, and Clarkston, WA. As a third-year area director, he faced the challenge of securing new funding and church partnerships. He needed a compelling tool to showcase what Young Life is and how it impacts the community.
Types of Videos: We suggested creating an Overview Impact Video with multiple versions that included different Calls to Action at the end for specific audiences.
Budget: $6500
Audience: People unfamiliar with Young Life: churches, banquets, fundraising events, and community gatherings.
Deadline: The video was needed for an April 21st auction. Filming took place April 7th-10th, and the final product was ready for viewing by April 14th.
Highlighting Area Uniqueness: The video featured teacher staff serving on the local reservation, a student leadership group, next-gen leaders, and the impactful work of YoungLives.
Success Measurements:
- The video was shown before the Raise the Paddle portion of their auction, which raised over $13,000 to send kids to camp—a record-breaking amount for their area.
- Within one month, it helped bring in $35,000 at the auction—their largest fundraising total with the least number of attendees. "We have never hit that amount before in a raise-the-paddle." — Tyler
- Over the next three months, the video was played periodically at church services, raising an additional $10,000 from viewers inspired to give.
- Six months later, the video was used again at their annual banquet, where it brought in another $30,000.
Impact on Fundraising and Leadership:
- Fundraising Success: The video significantly enhanced their events' ability to raise funds, surpassing previous benchmarks and proving to be a crucial investment in their ministry's growth.
- Leader Recruitment: The video has been instrumental in helping people understand what a Young Life leader is and why their role is vital. This clarity has contributed to better leader recruitment and engagement in the area.
"I can’t thank [Ashley] enough for capturing this ministry so well in our community." — Tyler
